ExxonMobil Client Services Rater in Annandale, New Jersey

Job Role Responsibilities

  • Perform pre-, mid-, and post-test analysis of engine and industrial rig parts, including deposit ratings, wear measurements, and discoloration (analysis will involve use of photographic and sensitive analytical equipment and include preparation of final test reports)

  • Prepare sample tags and procure the analysis of lubricant test samples

  • Coordinate and perform field inspections of engines at customer locations

  • Act as engine and industrial test rig part rater Subject Matter Expert, supporting efforts to advance relationships with Equipment Builders (EBs) & Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) for industry, OEM and proprietary tests

  • Participate in industry groups and liaise with testing laboratories, EBs, and OEMs to promote industry-wide rating consistency in support of advancing testing integrity

  • Support and/or provide laboratory and field training for Lubricants Technologists, ExxonMobil Research & Engineering EB and other functions supporting the Finished Lubricants business

Job Requirements

  • The successful candidate must be able to work as part of a team in a laboratory setting with minimum supervision, while following stringent safe work practices at all times

  • He or she must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds and climb ladders

  • Overtime and travel may be required

Qualifications and Experience Required

  • The candidate must possess good computer skills and be proficient in electronic data reporting, storage, and transfer, with a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Photoshop, and MIDAS

  • Must have good oral and written communication skills, be able to follow detailed instructions, have a “safety first” mindset, abide by good laboratory work practices, and function as part of a multi-faceted team

  • Will be expected to carry out multiple tasks at the same time and demonstrate the flexibility to handle changing priorities

  • Must demonstrate leadership, strong decision-making, attention to detail, and be self-directed. Expected to work independently and with teams

  • Formal automotive and/or medium/heavy duty truck ASE-certified training courses is strongly desired, but equivalent certification or experience will be considered

  • Experience with automotive mechanics, light and heavy duty engine knowledge, and familiarity with industrial applications (hydraulic pumps, circulating systems, bearings, gears and grease rigs) is desired

  • Four-year degree preferred, but not required

  • This position is located in Annandale, NJ
