ExxonMobil Performance Testing Automotive Technician (Mechanic) in Annandale, New Jersey

Job Role Responsibilities

  • The successful candidate will conduct mechanical rebuilds, assembly and disassembly, troubleshooting, repairs, and operation / monitoring / sampling / cleaning of various automotive, commercial, and industrial equipment in a testing lab environment

  • Work may include overtime throughout the week, and may occasionally include weekends and holidays, as required based on business need

  • The candidate will be required to attend training on test rig assembly and diagnostics, either on-site or at off-site locations

Job Requirements

  • Lifting and carrying objects that weigh up to 50 pounds, including containers of oil, engine parts, and test stand equipment

  • Moving heavy items, such as assembled engines on appropriate carts and full 55 gallon drums

  • Climbing ladders and stairs, and handling automotive and industrial fluids, such as fuel, solvents, grease, and lubricating oils

  • The job will also require the wearing of personal protective equipment, including fire-resistant clothing, safety glasses, and steel-toed shoes

  • The candidate must be capable of adhering to uncompromised safety rules and be able to work with minimal supervision

  • Some occasional travel may be required

Qualifications and Experience Required

  • Formal automotive and/or medium / heavy duty truck ASE-certified training courses is strongly desired, but equivalent certification or experience will be considered

  • Preference for on-the-job experience as an automotive / diesel mechanic or repairing and overhauling hydraulic pumps, motors and compressors

  • Must be able to follow detailed instructions and complex procedures for assembly, disassembly, operation, sampling, and cleaning of test equipment

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the diagnosis of all types of engine operating issues, particularly electronic fuel and ignition systems, are desired

  • Training and experience in electronic engine control systems and diagnostics are preferred

  • This position is located in Annandale, NJ
