Job Role Summary
Technical leader for the refinery Energy team responsible for supporting sustainable energy performance, while identifying opportunities for energy efficiency improvements across the site. Owns the medium to long-range planning and improvement activities for energy performance. Oversees and owns the site’s Energy program, including business planning, energy accounting, budget management, heat exchanger/steam management, etc. This position is located at the ExxonMobil Refinery in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Job Role Responsibilities
Own refinery energy performance and support optimization activities
Provide technical support and mentoring for Energy Coordinator and Energy Engineer
Support Energy Coordinator with items such as Energy Business Plan inputs, monthly performance reconciliations (actual vs plan), and online optimization opportunities
Support Energy Engineer with items such as management of the Energy budget, heat exchanger cleaning program, steam leak / trap repair program, and fired heater energy optimizations
Interface with all business teams across site to identify and drive energy improvements
Coordinate / lead focused energy assessments and pre-turnaround Project Workshops
Manage Energy Project Pipeline to ensure that site is meeting long-term energy efficiency goals
Support the project organization with Capital Projects, e.g. provide preliminary screening / scoping of small to medium energy projects and supply energy credits / debits
Collaborate with other ExxonMobil manufacturing site energy and utilities counterparts on benchmarking, work process redesigns, and peer assists
Lead Energy technology advancements at site
Job Role Responsibilities
B.S. Chemical Engineering
M.S. desirable, but not required
A minimum of 5 years of Chemical or Mechanical Engineering manufacturing technical experience
Preferred Qualifications
Strong understanding of site process units and energy economics
Refinery / plant design or project experience
Ability to think strategically and develop creative solutions to resolve operational problems
Demonstrated sound business judgment and ability to view and incorporate the "big picture" into strategy development
Ability to work with minimal supervision
Ability to provide informal leadership and mentoring
Demonstrated ability to influence and promote change to achieve desired results
Strong written and verbal communications skills
