Job Role Summary
The Environmental Air Advisor will work within the Environmental Department, SSH&E Division in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The Environmental Department supports the Baton Rouge Refinery and Chemical Plant. The Air Advisor supports the sites with analysis of air regulations, applicability determinations, maintaining / improving existing regulatory compliance systems and air permit consultation. Responsible for driving SSHE Functional Excellence by communicating values, displaying behaviors, and reinforcing standards consistent with OIMS and LPS.
Job Role Responsibilities
Provide compliance support to the manufacturing sites for assigned regulations including analysis of air regulations, applicability determinations and air permit consultation
Negotiate mutually agreeable permit conditions with operating teams, engineering teams and regulatory agencies
Review physical and operational changes using systematic methods or Best Practices to ensure compliance with air regulations, including air permit requirements
Support development of Environmental Business Plans to drive continued improvement in environmental performance to address significant environmental aspects and in conjunction with other business drivers
Maintain and improve existing regulatory compliance systems to drive improved compliance and efficiencies via routine compliance assessments for assigned regulations and documenting action / closure plans for any findings
Develop Compliance Plans to ensure compliance with new or revised regulations and permits
Support ExxonMobil Advocacy staff on regulatory issues to help drive reasonable rulemaking and regulatory interpretations
Manage agency actions as necessary using available SSH&E and Law resources to minimize exposure and maintain the company's positive image by employees, agencies and the public
Performs periodic field walks, informal audits, and field verifications to validate current performance of assigned units
Participate in internal and external regulatory compliance assessments
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental or Science
Experience working with environmental air issues
Proven ability to take initiative, manage / prioritize deadlines and achieve results
Preferred Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Strong analytical and communication skills
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team setting
Demonstrated leadership skills
