ExxonMobil Improve Engineer in Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Job Role Summary

An Adhesions Improve Engineer role involves working with operating units to optimize and improve the process for the manufacturing of Escorez Resin. Operating problems and troubleshooting efforts may involve improvements in capacity, operating procedures including process safety, product quality, service factors, profitability, and new products. The Engineer will be responsible for supporting the local unit as well as interacting with the Global network for continuous improvements. The Improve Engineer is expected to be proficient at the standard Chemical Engineering skills including fluid flow, thermodynamics, reaction kinetics, process safety, and solids handling. The Adhesion Improve engineer is located in Baton Rouge, LA and works under the day to day supervision of the Escorez Technical supervisor and under the Global Adhesion Process Technology Manager for functional matters.

Job Role Responsibilities

  • Monitor long-term unit operations and work with company subject matter experts when needed

  • Provide the chemical engineering expertise for problem-solving efforts

  • Identify and provide solutions for problems adversely affecting utilization, operating costs, or safety

  • Provide guidance and mentoring engineers to develop technical and leadership abilities

  • Assist in development of new products and qualification of new feeds or catalyst

  • Assist in development activity startups

  • Support improvement plan and generate improvement ideas for operating unit and the circuit

  • Develop best practices for local site and circuit to further improve operations

  • Stay apprised of technology across the industry and implement locally and across the circuit

  • Strong preference for ability to work with company experts in implementing modeling and optimization digital tools for improved operations

  • Actively participate in Global Networks and assist in sharing of knowledge across circuit

Works With:

  • Process organization including supervisors, board operations and operators, mechanical supervisors and craftsman, maintenance team, unit inspectors, and other Operations team members

  • Others – mechanical engineers, project development, design engineers, and raw material suppliers

  • Outside of site resources – product and process technology, other sites via networks

Job Requirements

  • B.S. in Chemical Engineering or similar; Masters or PhD candidates will also be considered

  • More than 5 years of experience in Chemical manufacturing or other related process Engineering position

  • Strong leadership skills, self-motivated, shows initiative

  • Enjoys working in fast-pace environment

  • Ability to work effectively in Multicultural teams

  • Understands general process safety risks

Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Strong analytical and communication skills

  • Prefer candidate to have experience in Chemical manufacturing and Polymer production operation
