ExxonMobil Laboratory Technician - Baton Rouge Refinery in Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Pre-Employment Testing Required

ExxonMobil is currently seeking Laboratory Technicians for the Baton Rouge Refinery located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Job Role Summary

  • Perform routine laboratory analyses by following written procedures providing data to internal and external customers.

  • Measure and report the quality of finished products, intermediate streams, imported and exported materials, process control, environmental and quality control samples.

  • Calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment.

  • Some overtime may be required.

Job Role Responsibilities

The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Conduct laboratory analyses (hands on working on the bench).

  • Produce accurate and timely data.

  • Understand and keep current with all laboratory safety practices and protocols.

  • Understand and keep current with all laboratory analysis methods and procedures

  • Follow all laboratory analysis methods and procedures rigorously without deviations

  • Complete all laboratory reports as applicable.

  • Assist with the maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment.

  • Understand general laboratory QA/QC requirements.

  • Maintain orderliness and cleanliness of equipment / work area.

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

  • 12 hour rotating shifts, includes weekends and holidays, overtime may be required

  • Report immediately any unsafe work condition or equipment to supervisor.

Job Role Requirements

  • College degree in a STEM Field OR some college and a minimum of 3 years’ experience working in an industrial/medical laboratory or process area

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • Successful completion of the ExxonMobil Pre-employment Test

  • Currently possessor be able to qualify for a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)

  • Demonstrated commitment to safe work practices

  • Effective oral and written communication skills

  • Dependable and reliable

  • Ability to follow detailed instructions

  • Ability to multi-task and work independently

  • Ability to work under general supervision to meet changing priorities and deadlines within a demanding 24/7 work environment

  • Proficiency with standard computer software, including MS Word and Excel

Pre-employment Testing Requirement

This Operations and Mechanical (O&M) position requires pre-employment testing. After applying you will receive a pop up giving you access to the assessment. You may take the assessment at that time or utilize the instructions below to access the assessment at a time convenient for you. Note that the assessment must be completed by the deadline in order for you to be considered for the O&M position for which you have applied.


The O&M test has been revised. Effective December 1, 2021 ALL candidates must complete the revised assessment. Even if you have tested within the last 365 days (passed or failed), you must complete the revised assessment to be considered for this O&M opportunity. Failure to complete the assessment by the deadline will result in your disqualification from consideration for this position.

Test passed candidates will be screened by the hiring team and a subset invited for interview. Note that a satisfactory result on the assessment does not guarantee an interview.
