Pre-Employment Testing Requirement
This Operations and Mechanical (O&M) position requires pre-employment testing. Please read the job description in its entirety for additional information on accessing the assessment. The assessment should be completed by Sunday, October 9, 2022.
A Mechanic safely installs, repairs, replaces, troubleshoots, and dismantles pipeline equipment including valves, tubing, and various pipeline fittings. Also develops and submits modifications to improve equipment safety, performance and or improve equipment reliability and ensures compliance with all applicable safety standards and procedures.
DOT/DPOS Safety Sensitive
The position you are applying for is regulated by the Department of Transportation (DOT), or has been internally designated by ExxonMobil as safety sensitive / safety critical
Accordingly, if you receive a conditional offer of employment for such a position, you will be required to undergo a pre-employment process, which includes, among other things, a background check.
In addition, if you pass the pre-employment process and are hired, you will be expected to undergo random drug and alcohol screening in addition to other requirements associated with the position
Develop equipment repair job scopes, procedures, & execution plans
Ensure compliance of applicable Safety Standards, and procedures
Assume Permit Issuer responsibilities
Implement Behavior Based Safety Systems
Troubleshoot, repair and/or overhaul all types of I/E equipment
Troubleshoot, repair, and/or overhaul pipeline pumps
Validate equipment repair procedures or work specs
Ensure good housekeeping in work areas
Repair (shop repaired) spare parts and return to inventory
Enter equipment maintenance history and close out SAP work orders
Update repair procedures if needed
Read and understand pipeline alignment drawings and piping and instrumentation diagrams
Initiate ideas and/or modifications to improve equipment reliability and/or safety
Perform on-call responsibilities and be required to respond to emergency operational events
Position does not include relocation benefits, or travel expense reimbursement associated with the pre-employment process
2 to 5 years’ experience directly related to the specified primary job responsibilities
Machinist experience and/or skillsets & knowledge preferred, but not required
Demonstrate the ability to maintain a consistent safe work ethic
Ability to plan daily work activities in accordance with established Company and Regulatory procedures
Knowledge of valve mechanics, and how to troubleshoot
Knowledge of instrumentation tubing installation
Knowledge of (root cause) various valve troubleshooting and failure analysis
Good verbal communication skills
Able to use Microsoft Office Suite of programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Able to read & interpret repair manuals, repair procedures, equipment drawings & schematics, preventative maintenance procedures, repairs and overhaul procedures
Able to document troubleshooting guides, failure analysis reports and equipment repair history
Safely isolate equipment through Lock Out, Tag Out
Knowledge of emergency response procedures and DOT motor carrier regulations
Must be willing and able to attend/complete required training courses
Must be willing and able to work in small team environments
Must be willing and able to work in various locations, both indoors and outdoors, in a variety of weather conditions and temperatures
Must have safe driving skills
Must possess a valid driver’s license
Pre-Employment Testing Guidance
This Operations and Mechanical (O&M) position requires pre-employment testing. After applying you will receive a pop up giving you access to the assessment. You may take the assessment at that time or utilize the instructions below to access the assessment at a time convenient for you. Note that the assessment must be completed by the deadline in order for you to be considered for the O&M position for which you have applied.
The O&M test has been revised. Effective December 1, 2021 ALL candidates must complete the revised assessment. Even if you have tested within the last 365 days (passed or failed), if you tested before December 1, 2021, you must complete the revised assessment to be considered for this O&M opportunity. Failure to complete the assessment by the deadline will result in your disqualification from consideration for this position. The assessment is the same for all O&M requisitions. If you have completed the assessment after December 1, 2021, your assessment results will be mapped to this requisition when you try to access the test. Test passed candidates will be screened by the hiring team and a subset invited for interview. Note that a satisfactory result on the assessment does not guarantee an interview.
