Job Role Summary
As a Real Time Optimization (RTO) Engineer, you will utilize commercial and proprietary modeling and data analytics technologies to define, develop and deploy new Real Time Optimization applications for Refining and Chemicals units, sustain and drive margin improvement analysis on existing RTO applications, and contribute to R&D initiatives. Job Role Responsibilities
Develop, deploy, commission (closed loop) and sustain Real Time Optimization applications
Provide technical support in sustaining deployed RTO applications at the Beaumont Refinery / Chemical Complex, including model troubleshooting and assistance with model convergence, model and economic information updates, interpreting optimization solutions to stake holders
Closely work with process engineering, applications engineering and the business stakeholders to identify opportunities, define the scope, cost, benefits and project schedule for new as well as revamped applications
Support R&D activities in RTO and overlapping technologies
Position is located at Beaumont Refinery / Chemicals Complex
PhD in ChE (or MS in ChE and more than 5 years industry experience) with focus in optimization and modeling of chemical / refining processes
Demonstrated experience with commercial modeling / optimization platforms such as ROMeo, AspenPlus, PRO-II, PIMS, DYNSIM, etc.
Experience with commercial multivariable model predictive control software like DMC or equivalent
Experience with data analytics / data mining (SEEQ, JMP preferred)
Strong coding and computer programming skills (TCL & Python preferred)
Seeking an individual who will take initiative in all life cycle areas (develop, deploy, commission, sustain, improve) of the RTO application(s) under their responsibility
Able to communicate effectively and drive stakeholder alignment in a multi-disciplinary team environment (applications, operations, process/technical, coordination / economics, management, central engineering)
