Job Role Summary
ExxonMobil Technology & Engineering Company (EMTEC), located in Spring, TX, is seeking a qualified and experienced Materials Engineer to provide global Mechanical Integrity support to Refineries, Chemical plants and Midstream facilities. The successful candidate will need to effectively interface with other technical disciplines, and will need to promote the career development of fellow employees.
Job Role Responsibilities
Provide day-to-day troubleshooting of materials-related problems
Provides on-site field support during scheduled maintenance activities
Provide materials specialist support for large capital projects and smaller regional projects to ensure technical quality
Participates in programs aimed at improving unit reliability and optimizing maintenance
Assists sites with the development and review of equipment strategies
Supports Industry activities (API and AMPP)
Supports R&D activities to advance and transfer technology
Trains / Mentors entry-level employees to accelerate their career development
Job Requirements
BS/MS in Materials Engineering or Metallurgical Engineering with at least 5 years of experienced based Petrochemical Operations knowledge, with 10 or more years preferred
Demonstrated work experience in the areas of:
Materials selection and degradation
RBI and Inspection management systems
Corrosion control, monitoring, and prevention
Welding and fabrication
Knowledgeable in the areas of:
Metallurgy, fitness for service and failure analysis
Nondestructive testing
Coatings, fireproofing and non-metallics
Strong analytical and communication (written and oral) skills
Excellent interpersonal skills and willingness to work in teams and mentor early to mid- career individuals
Able and willing to travel to ExxonMobil sites worldwide ( 25%)
