ExxonMobil Experienced Wells Engineer in Houston, Texas
Job Summary
ExxonMobil is seeking qualified and experienced individuals to provide wells engineering technical expertise to its oil and gas development projects. The primary role and responsibility of the Wells Engineer is to collaborate with a multi-functional well planning team to design, plan, and execute drilling and completions operations in compliance with internal and external standards. Other responsibilities include well cost estimates, operations surveillance, risk assessments, and equipment selection and application. Typically engineers are assigned a team and they are then responsible for all operated / non-operated/industry work within that area.
Primary Job Functions
Responsible for preparing drilling and/or completions programs coordinating across a multi-functional Upstream team and ensuring focus on Safety, Security, Health and Environment (SSH&E), operations integrity, and regulatory compliance
Support of procurement activities relating to drilling and completions activities in coordination with Procurement organization
Surveillance of daily drilling progress to ensure operations are conducted applying the optimum technologies and operational practices
Analysis of drilling performance and coordination with operations personnel to implement changes in procedures and equipment
Provision of well site drilling and/or completions surveillance and engineering assessments and advises Drill Team leadership on critical activities and problems
Keeps abreast of the latest available drilling and/or completions technology
Maintains proficiency in well control technology and training
Provides surveillance of well costs and stewardship reconciliation exercises
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Engineering discipline
5-15 years of relevant industry experience in a drilling or completions engineering role
High level of personal and professional integrity. Demonstrated teamwork and leadership skills, able to manage self and lead others in a diverse work team
Strong verbal and written communication skills. Able to adapt communication style between leading onsite team to relaying technical information to office based team
Willing and able to travel and relocate (domestic and international) as required to support global operations. Examples: international rotational (e.g. 28 days on / 28 days off) assignments, domestic relocations (i.e. Midland, Williston, Houston), and expatriate assignments
Preferred Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
- Familiarity with challenging drilling & completion environments (e.g. deepwater, extended reach, managed pressure drilling, unconventional, high temperature / high pressure)
