ExxonMobil US Senior Advocacy Advisor in Houston, Texas
Primary Deliverable of Position
Provide environmental remediation advocacy and strategy support relating to environmental legislation, regulations, technology, emerging concerns associated with the oil and gas industry; including Trade / Industry group representation and engagement at Federal and State (particularly NY / NJ / CA / TX) levels
Responsible for the environmental remediation (soil, groundwater) advocacy opportunity identification, strategy development and support to local US field teams
Support and participate in global environmental remediation advocacy strategy development and evaluation
Monitor regulatory environment and develop outlook for US and key States
Lead or participate in Federal & State new regulation advocacy, review and commenting process
Lead or participate in trade association/industry committees to progress environmental remediation advocacy efforts
Supports and mentors organization on regulatory understanding and advocacy development
Interface with other ExxonMobil Environmental Advisors to ensure alignment and identify advocacy synergies
Skills / Competencies
University degree, preferably in environmental engineering or sciences
Expert knowledge and over ten years’ experience in environmental regulatory frameworks associated with the oil and gas industry, state regulations, technical guidance standards and general industry regulatory advocacy practices.
Environmental Investigation / Remediation knowledge and experience (soil, groundwater, sediments, water, and waste)
Ability to communicate complex regulatory and technical concepts into straightforward terms
Strong interpersonal, collaboration and negotiation & influencing skills
Effective written and oral communication skills
Creates ownership and commitment to initiatives
Available for periodic travel
