Job Role Summary
ExxonMobil Research and Engineering is seeking a Used Oil Analysis Lab Technician in Kansas City, KS. Technician will perform routine physical and chemical testing of used oils for customer trending purposes. The technician will be responsible for collecting analytical data while monitoring quality control and performance of instruments. Peer-to-peer training will be conducted to acquire and maintain area certifications, and laboratory assistance will be provided where technical knowledge is required. Overtime may be required. Technician must be able to work off-shift hours (4:00pm-12:30am or 12:00am-8:30am).
Job Role Responsibilities
Proactively maintain the safety and security of the work area, yourself and your co-workers
Conduct standardized physical and chemical tests applicable to a wide range of products.
Provide daily instrument test results and monitor the quality of data by applying instrument data review; refers to work instructions or standard operating procedures, as necessary.
Contribute to the completion of daily sample login responsibilities by receiving, opening, and sorting mail and entering in sample information.
Collect and enter, or send, test results into the Global Used Oil Analysis Laboratory Information Management System (GUOALIMS).
Support Quality Practices & Guidelines in the facility by compliance with Data Integrity Assurance Framework, Quality Assurance, Statistical Quality Control and other applicable procedures and guidelines.
Maintain integrity of recorded laboratory results.
Maintain work area to facility housekeeping standards.
Conduct preventative maintenance for lab equipment and assist with non-routine instrument repair.
Work together with other team members to provide regular safety and housekeeping inspections.
Secure instrument certifications via the Collective Experience Matrix (CEM).
Function as a member of corporate management systems.
Contribute to lab quality through quality suggestions and projects and reports findings to the quality committee.
Participate in Loss Prevention Systems Tools activities.
Attend and participate in monthly meetings addressing facility Safety, Security, Health and Environment requirements.
Ensures proper waste handling of chemical and oil waste.
Participates in shift changeover or information transfer via logbook.
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology or another applicable Applied Science.
Must be willing to work off-shift hours (4:00pm-12:30am or 12:00am-8:30am).
Strong safety awareness and adherence to standards and practices working with instrumentation in a laboratory; ability to identify potential safety issues and propose solutions.
Strong computing skills, including experience with word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, sample tracking and data handling.
Strong teamwork, interpersonal, and communication skills, including flexibility to accommodate change, positive attitude, and willingness to mentor/train other personnel.
Strong organizational skills with effective time and task management, even for repetitive tasks.
Strong work ethic with ability to quickly learn new tasks and integrate them into workflows; ability to meticulously follow detailed instructions and adhere to procedures.
