Job Role Summary
Location: Midland, Texas
Each year ExxonMobil hires a number of outstanding candidates as accountants, analysts and advisors. We are seeking individuals with a minimum of 2 years public accounting or industry experience and with a CPA license (or a background in Controls) preferred. These professional positions are a vital part of the Controller's organization. We are currently seeking a Controls Advisor, based in Midland, to support our growing upstream business and operations based there. Candidates must have an accounting, audit or controls background and have the capability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Job Role Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include the following:
Provides broad controls advice and guidance on execution of controls process and policy
Reviews management of change, risk assessments
Advises on Internal Assessments, Audits, Joint Venture controls
Coordinates Business Compliance Programs
Advises on Policy violation reporting process
Assists in open control gap tracking, assesses sustainability of gap closures
Prepares various stewardship reports, senior management packages and controls metrics
Provides controls training to business line
Provides Guidance to business line on policy and control interpretations
Promotes Consistency and Shares Best Practices
Through these activities you will participate in business decisions, improve our controls and execution processes, and work closely with both financial and business line operating management. Demonstrated performance may lead to increasing responsibility and opportunities across the financial organizations including business analysis, financial reporting and accounting as well as the opportunity to support various business lines (Upstream, Downstream and Chemicals) via job rotation. Required Qualifications, Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge
Bachelor’s degree required. A degree (Bachelor’s, Master's, or MBA) in Finance or Accounting.
Minimum of 2 years public accounting or industry experience and CPA license preferred
Demonstrated analytical, leadership and problem-solving skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate effectively
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Background in Controls, System Controls, Compliance or audit preferred
Basic knowledge of COPAS a plus
